TPA Instructions

Designate TPA on Clearinghouse

1) Visit https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

2) Click on Register

3) Create account

4) Enter your email address. You will need to use a different email address from the

one you used to previously register. You cannot register with an email that is already

in use. If you have Gmail, you can add the plus sign and cdl after your username

and you will still receive the email from the site. Example, your email is

johndoe@gmail.com. You would enter it johndoe+cdl@gmail.com

5) After you receive the email confirmation, follow the prompts to set up your

password. I recommend only using Phone (“text”) as the Authentication method

set up Enter your phone number and it will text you a security code. Once you

entered the code, you are registered.

6) Go back to https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/ and login in with your new email

and password. You will receive a text with a code

7) You are now ready to select your role. Select “Employer”

8) Select “Register as an Employer and Driver

9) Select “No, I do not have and FMCSA Portal Account, then next,

10) Select Yes, I am my employer’s clearinghouse administrator, next

11) Select No My company does not have a USDOT number, next

12) Select I do not need a USDOT number, proceed with registration,

13) Complete the Contact form, next

14) Complete Company name as your name

15) Select Yes to Are you an owner-operator

16) Select James Shea, LPC as your TPA, designate and go to next

17) Only check box “Report RTD Information, next (disregard notification you have not

completed this step)

18) Verify your CDL,

19) Check box, I “Agree
